Gulden Guitars (website in Norwegian only), located in the small village of Steinberg, 10 min. outside the city Drammen is presently the only guitar repair shop in Norway to own a Plek guitar computerized fret adjustment machine. In Sept. 2020 I had 5 of my 7-string guitars undergo this “micro” adjustment setup, while I was on holiday in Eastern Norway. I must say the results were well above my expectations!
A Plek adjustment starts with registering string gauge etc. Then a sensor touches the fingerboard, moves each string (one at a time) a little to the side and scans all frets along the fingerboard. Every fret is measured with a precision of one thousand’s part of a millimeter. Then all this info is displayed on the computer screen,
The graphs and corresponding numbers show the height of each fret and the neck profile. If necessary, the trussrod will now be adjusted.
Then a virtual fret polishing follows.
I have checked all five guitars and they all play definitely much better than before.
